The government has clarified that vehicle owners will not face any fines or penalties if they fail to install embossed number plates by September 17. Vehicle owners can complete the process at their own convenience, without worrying about deadlines or immediate enforcement.
Earlier, the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) had mentioned September 17 as the last date for number plate installation, which created confusion among motorists. Many assumed that failing to comply by that date would result in fines or other penalties.
Officials have now stated that the date was only a guideline to encourage timely adoption of embossed number plates, not a mandatory cutoff. This means vehicle owners can install the plates whenever suitable, without facing restrictions.
The embossed number plate system is being introduced to modernize vehicle registration, improve road safety, and make law enforcement more efficient. While authorities recommend early installation to avoid last-minute rush, the decision to provide flexibility aims to make the transition smoother for vehicle owners.
With this clarification, motorists can proceed with number plate installation according to their own schedule, free from the pressure of fines or immediate enforcement.
